Objectif de carrière : les secteurs bancaires et financiers
Leur Bachelor acquis, beaucoup d’étudiants se posent la question de ce qu’ils pourraient entreprendre. Certains souhaitent continuer leurs études et visent une carrière professionnelle dans le domaine de la finance au Luxembourg. Dans ce but, la Faculté de Droit, d’Économie et de Finance de l’Université du Luxembourg propose plusieurs Masters qui répondent aux besoins du marché du travail au Grand-Duché. Les étudiants bénéficient de formations multilingues, d’un stage en entreprise, d’un encadrement individualisé et d’un corps académique hautement qualifié renforcé par la présence d’experts du monde professionnel. Voici un descriptif détaillé de ces formations :
Master in Financial Economics :
Ce Master s’adresse à des étudiants désireux d’obtenir une formation complète et solide en finance. La formation a pour vocation de former les futurs cadres des secteurs financier, bancaire et de l’assurance. Elle offre également aux étudiants la possibilité de préparer un doctorat. Le programme permet de s’adapter aux mutations rapides du secteur financier en tirant avantage des connaissances et outils issus des recherches les plus récentes. De plus, ce Master met en valeur les fortes complémentarités entre les outils d’analyse théorique et leur application professionnelle. Ainsi, outre les cours dispensés par les professeurs de l’Université, des séminaires sont donnés par des professionnels de la place financière du Luxembourg. Des présentations d’entreprises offrant des stages aux étudiants ont également lieu.
Durée des études : 4 semestres (plein temps)
Langues d’enseignement : français (50 %) et anglais (50%)
Diplômes requis : Bachelor ou Licence (180 ECTS min.) en sciences économiques, en gestion, en mathématiques appliquées aux sciences sociales ou diplôme équivalent ; Admission en 2è année possible.

Master of Science in Banking and Finance :
This Master is the centrepiece of the Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF) of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance. Close to the financial centre and the EU institutions in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, students are prepared for the various professions in the areas of banking and finance. Contrary to MBA degrees that train generalists for global management, the educational philosophy of the LSF is to further a conceptualised expertise linked to this particular sector. The programme combines theory with business and is committed to creating leaders who are creative thinkers and team players. The LSF’s research is dedicated to the financial market’s relevant challenges. The LSF is based on a worldwide network and counts internationally renowned financial experts to its lecturers (e.g. from the INSEAD-Business School in Fontainebleau ). Furthermore, students of the Master will follow a five-day tailor-made programme at the Stern School of Business of the New York University.

Entry requirements : Completed four-year (240 ECTS) or three-year studies (Bachelor/180 ECTS/with professional experience) in Law or Finance. Students are selected on the basis of their application dossier and on individual assessment.

Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation :
The Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation was conceived in co-operation with the Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and is alternately completed at the University and the mentor companies. Banks, consultancies, industrial firms and start-ups are part of the existing 20 mentor companies. The course concept interweaves theory and practice and forms creative managers. The students will learn how to handle innovation in companies with the aim of launching new firms in the future. Thanks to the intensive professional experience a bond of trust between student and mentor company is developed, which considerably increases future hiring chances. Lecturers and students are from all over the world ; the atmosphere is personal due to small working groups.

Entry requirements : Completed four-year studies (Master/240 ECTS) in Political- or Business Economics, Engineer- or Natural Sciences, Law, Sociology etc. Students with a Bachelor degree (180 ECTS) as well as with a three-year professional experience may also apply. An excellent level in English is a prerequisite. Students are selected on the basis of their college achievements.
